More Highlights From Buyer Days
Exhibitors (clockwise from left): Boulder Cove Originals, Imaginative Creations, Weaving the Adirondacks, Robert Stump Studios, Heirlooms, and Rooted in Clay
With a record breaking 77 artisans, artists, food producers, musicians and book publishers, it is suggested that buyers schedule at least three hours at the only gift trade show in the region where buyers can order directly from the makers. We look forward to seeing everyone at the show.
Twenty-two new juried exhibitors are identified as first year participants at Buyer Days. Two of the most recently registered, both from the Saratoga region, are Saratoga Sweets who impressed the jury with their great product descriptions, and Beverly's Best who already has an established account with Whole Foods Market. First time exhibitor Teresa Lucas, from near Lake Ontario, has had great success in her first year at craft fairs selling her wooden quilts.
Soft Maple Design from Lowville is coming back with her ultra suede bell strips and decoupage plates. Snowshoe Publishing, with her Adirondack theme stationery lines, is back after a year's absence as is Fish Bob.
Many exhibitors showcase their new product lines of the season at Buyer Days: Asplin Tree Farms has new fabrics and patterns and a new line of tapestry balsam pillows; Adirondack Woodworks, new birch door vanities and mirrors; Boulder Cove Originals, new clay garden accessories and whimsical animals; and Sundae's Best Hot Fudge Sauce is introducing four new flavors and two new gift packages. Private labeling is also offered by exhibitors such as Aroma Galores.
Lisa Nortz, Silver Bench, who attends the show regularly, was featured in January on the cover of, and in the article Silversmith Returns to her Roots and Builds a Successful Business, from the monthly magazine Absolutely Business. Susan Cassevaugh, of Near North, recently revealed her other life in a photo and article in a local paper - that of being a member of the adult synchronized skating team called the Ice Pack.
There are two shopowners who are planning to open shops for the first time who are coming to the show; one is located in Washington County and the other, in St. Lawrence County.
Congratulations go to the owners of Seasons from Massena, and Mountain Gift and Powder Company from Saranac Lake, who report great 2006 Christmas sales, within the first year of relocating their shops within the same community. At Mountain Gift and Powder's new location across Broadway, the product is now grandly showcased in the original oak display cabinetry on marble floors. The punch needle, traditional wool hooking and punch embroidery workshops, in the new craft room, are already generating income that was not available in the previous location.
In Massena, Seasons moved from their Main Street location to a house located on one of the main entrance streets which, until a short number of years ago, had been the owner's father's medical practice! Their website offers a virtual tour of the interior of their new two story shop.
On Thursday, April 5th, at 12 noon during Buyer Days, marketing seminar attendees will participate in a critique of a nearby shop which sells only North American made work.
