Started 39 years ago, the Hillside Markets has 150 vendors of antiques, collectibles, crafts, art, old tools, and bric-a-brac inside. Outside, in season, as many as 50 farm vendors offer locally grown produce. Natural light streams into the barn from skylights and trees shade the surrounding grassy grounds. There is a full-time snack bar and restrooms.

The building, opening in the summer of 2008, is registered with the US Green Building Council's LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system. Artistic, theatrical, educational, ecological, and civic programs take place in the auditorium, galleries, meeting rooms, preschool, and artist studios. The center includes an artist-in-residence living space, a catering kitchen, gift shop, and ecology gallery.

Cathy, a metal smith and painter, creates sterling silver jewelry using the same bold colors and strong lines of her “Pop Art Meets Surrealism” paintings. Her whimsically painted furniture and tableware are also on display.
